Wax Paper Lamps

Recommended Age Group: 2.5 Years +

Materials Required:

  • A Roll of Wax Paper
  • Craft Sticks
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Star Stickers
  • Votive Candle

Instructions:
Finally a craft that can blend into your décor! The wax paper lamp is a fun yet beautiful activity to do together with your child.

Roll out a length of wax paper and lay it flat on your work surface. Arrange four craft sticks into a square at one corner of the wax paper. Glue the craft sticks to each other to build a frame, and then glue the paper to the sticks. Make three more frames and glue your wax paper to those frames as well. You should have four squares of craft sticks glued next to each other across the wax paper.

Cut off the excess wax paper leaving only a one inch overhang at the end of your squares to glue the lamp closed.

When the glue dries, turn the wax paper over so that the craft sticks are now underneath the paper. (They should be securely glued in place.)

Let your child decorate the wax paper with a montage of star stickers. She can use a variety of colors and sizes, or stick to a single color and size – it all depends on your preferences.

When the stars are all in place, carefully fold the lamp into a standing square. Glue the one inch overhang onto the adjoining wax paper and put aside to dry.

When all glue is dry, your wax paper lamp is complete!

Place a votive candle in the center of the lamp and light it to see the beauty of the wax paper lamp and the effect of the stars. Be sure to place the candle and lamp well out of the reach of children. Enjoy!
