Instructions:
Creating an underwater scene is an easy craft for children of all ages. When you lay out your supplies for the project, be sure to put out some extra goldfish for the inevitable snacking that will occur.
Place the piece of blue construction paper on your work surface, this will be the primary paper used in the craft. Using your scissors, cut a wavy line about one third of way up the yellow construction paper. This will be your ocean floor or sand. Match the straight edges of the sand to the bottom of your blue paper and glue it in place. The wavy edge should be facing up covering one third of your paper.
Using your green construction paper, cut thin wavy pieces of kelp or algae to be attached to the ocean floor. Glue them in place. Then cut a large star from your white or red paper and glue this star fish to your ocean floor as well. You might decide to draw a face on the starfish or put dots on its back. If you have other colors of paper, your older child might enjoy making a rock or even a coral reef under the water.
When the landscape is completed, let your child arrange the colored goldfish on the paper in any pattern she likes. Expect more than a few to wind up swimming into her mouth rather than on the page, but when the design is finished help her glue them down. When the glue is dry, your underwater scene is complete!
