Paint Garden

Recommended Age Group: 18 Months +

Materials Required:

  • Large Finger Paint Paper
  • Green Finger Paint
  • Red and Yellow Finger Paint

Instructions:

This fun spring craft is the perfect way to welcome warmer weather – especially as it must be done in a short-sleeve shirt! This can be a messy project for both parent and child. It’s messy, but the final product and fun along the way are definitely worth a bit of extra clean up.

Put your child in a short-sleeve shirt before beginning and completely cover your work surface with newspaper or an old sheet for easy clean up.

Spread a piece of large finger painting paper on the covered work surface. Very carefully (or not so carefully if you don’t mind a bit of fun mess), paint your child’s forearm green using the green finger paints. Paint the palm of her hand red. Help her press her arm onto the paper to form a large colorful flower.

Then, while trying to keep that arm away from danger, paint her other arm green and her palm yellow. Press the arm in place to create a yellow flower next to your red flower.

Return to the first hand to paint another green arm and red palm. Again press the arm onto the paper. Continue repeating arms to form a full garden of colorful spring flowers.

Let the picture dry completely before displaying it as one of the first signs of spring this year.
