Instructions:
The Love Mobile is perfect anytime of year, but it is especially fun around Valentine’s Day. The mobile makes a great gift for grandparents or other close relatives.
Cut a large heart out of the red construction paper. Cut three smaller hearts from the pink paper and a medium sized heart from the white paper.
With the hole punch, punch a hole at both the top and the bottom of the large red heart. Also punch a hole on either side of the heart about one inch from your bottom hole along the sides. Then punch a hole at the top of the three small pink hearts and the medium white heart. Also punch a hole at the bottom of the white heart. (The white heart should have a hole at both the top and bottom.)
Cut five pieces of yarn. Two should be about eight inches long and the other two should be ten to twelve inches long. The fifth piece should be about four inches long.
Tie an eight inch piece of yarn through the hole at the bottom of the red heart. Tie the loose end to the top of the white heart. Tie the second piece of eight inch yarn through the bottom hole of the white heart and affix a pink heart to the other end. Tie the two longer pieces of yarn to the holes on the sides of the heart. Tie the remaining pink hearts to the other end of these pieces. The short length of yarn is tied through the hole at the top of the red heart to hang the mobile.
Trim the edges of your photographs and drawings so that the important parts fit within the hearts. A circle or oval shape might work best. As you cut and fit each picture, glue it to a heart. Leave the red heart blank for now, but place a picture on the white heart for sure, and on the pink hearts if you’d like. If you have many pictures, you can glue on both sides of each heart as they will spin and dangle.
Finally, on the red heart, help your child write a special message to her loved one. “I love you” or “You’re my best friend” is good, or older children might write a longer, more personal message.
Then, wait for the glue to dry and allow your child to proudly give the mobile to that special someone.
